What are the benefits of Same-Day Crowns?

As a testament to our all-in-one dental practice promise, we offer North Carolina residents same-day crowns service, which allows our patients the ease of having their crown done in only one appointment, saving them time and inconvenience. In our in-house dental lab, featuring Digital Smile and 3D-printing technology, we are able to show you what your smile can look like before even committing to treatment! And 3D printing allows us to design your flawless dental restorations with exactness and then rapidly produce crowns, bridges, veneers, and more. This, of course, saves you, the patient, time, and doctor visits. Further, we can make adjustments to your restoration’s shades and fit while you are in the office.

Who is a good candidate for Same-Day Crowns?

Dental crowns are most commonly used to restore cracked or broken teeth or as caps to protect teeth weakened by decay or large fillings. They are frequently placed on top of dental implants as a tooth replacement. Back teeth that have had root canal therapy require crowns to prevent fracture of teeth or roots. Crowns form the anchors for permanently cemented dental bridges. A crown is placed on each side of the space left by a missing tooth. A porcelain replacement tooth connected to each crown forms the bridge. Dental crowns can create beautiful cosmetics by covering misshapen or discolored teeth and can even make instant orthodontics in some cases.

  • Bone and Soft Tissue Grafting

    Bone and Soft Tissue Grafting
Close of you woman's healthy gums

    Overview

Grafting procedures are done to restore your tissues to as close to their previous form following tooth loss, gum disease, or trauma.

    Book A Consultation

    Why is grafting needed?

Bone and soft tissue grafts are used to restore deficient areas, thereby allowing for reconstruction possibilities otherwise absent.

After dental removal of teeth, the bone surrounding the missing tooth will slowly begin to resorb (i.e., shrink), resulting in a loss of bone height and width. As bone resorbs the overlying gum tissue, you will also lose both volume and the standard anatomic form. This loss of bone and gum tissue following a tooth extraction often results in both functional and cosmetic defects, leaving an unsightly collapsed appearance.

At Dental Implant Center of the Carolinas, Dr. Kelly takes a proactive stance on tissue preservation. Bone and gum tissue loss following teeth removal can either be significantly reduced or eliminated thanks to advances in grafting procedures and bioengineering. For example, following a tooth extraction, a specially bioengineered dental bone graft material is placed within the extraction socket. The bone graft material supports new bone growth and has been shown to preserve bone and overlying soft tissue following tooth removal.

What is the process of Bone Grafting?

Grafting is a safe procedure, and we can discuss your options in-depth with you before the surgery takes place to ensure you’re receiving the appropriate type of treatment for your needs. You’ll usually be given a local anesthetic to reduce pain while the procedure is taking place and can opt for intravenous sedation if you need it. Once the procedure is completed, you will be provided with antibiotics and medication for pain if required. You will be advised not to consume specific foods to avoid putting pressure on the graft. You should be able to carry on with your day-to-day life as normal while the graft is healing.

Who is a good candidate for Bone Grafting?

Bone grafting is ideal for anyone wishing to add implants to their mouths but doesn’t currently have enough bone for them to be installed safely or securely. If you require a bone graft for a dental implant, contact our office and come in for a bone graft consultation.

  • Sedation Dentistry

    Overview

Lose your fear of treatment with “Sleep Dentistry”. For patients who have dental fear or anxiety, we offer multiple sedation options to ensure every patient feels relaxed and comfortable.

    Book A Consultation

What is Sedation Dentistry or “Sleep Dentistry”?

Sedation dentistry, sometimes called “Sleep Dentistry,” is a safe, gentle option used to help patients relax while having dental treatment. Medication will be used, but you usually remain awake unless you opt for a general anesthetic, making you sleep.

Dr. Kelly will discuss the sedation options with you so that you can choose the one you prefer and which the doctor feels is best suited to your circumstances:

    • Local Anesthesia – an anesthetic applied directly to the area of removal
    • Nitrous Oxide – also known as laughing gas, an anesthetic option used in congruence with other anesthetic options to calm anxiety during the procedure
    • Sedation Anesthesia – administered through an intravenous (IV) line that allows you to sleep during the procedure
    • General Anesthesia – an anesthetic delivered to allow a deep sleep during the procedure

What are the benefits of Sedation Dentistry?

Being sedated while you have dental work completed brings with it many benefits. Your anxiety will be relieved, you will be less aware or unaware of the procedure being carried out, and your fear will be a thing of the past.

    Who should consider Sedation Dentistry?

If the thought of dental treatment fills you with dread, then sedation dentistry is well worth considering. Whether you have a phobia or something less, by allowing your dentist to sedate you, dental treatment can be carried out quickly and efficiently. Talk to Dr. Kelly about sedation dentistry if you have problems with any of the following:

    • A fear of dentists
    • Low pain threshold
    • Very sensitive teeth
    • A gag reflex that causes problems during treatment
    • Need to have a vast amount of work carried out

    How do I get started?

Call a treatment coordinator at Dental Implant Center of the Carolinas to discuss your sedation options.

    Overview

For years denture wearers have suffered from loose and uncomfortable dentures. You don’t have to live this way.

    What Are Implant-Supported Dentures?

Implant-supported appliances rely on two or more implant posts for a stable, lasting smile. These posts integrate with your jaw for a strong, stable foundation. A highly cosmetic denture appliance is attached to the implants for a natural look, feel, and function. Same-day options are also available for the ultimate convenience. Imagine going from extractions to brand new teeth in a single visit!

What are the benefits of Implant-Supported Dentures?

Implant-Supported Dentures are ideal for patients seeking more affordable ways to replace missing teeth. We can also repair and secure loose dentures that have made it harder to speak, eat or smile with confidence.

Implant-Supported Dentures can provide you with a more youthful appearance, supporting the structure of the face and stopping the process of bone loss. Further, they are more stable and feel like natural teeth. Plus, there is no gum tissue irritation due to dentures slipping. With Implant-Supported Dentures, all slippage is eliminated.

Perhaps best of all, you will no longer need to use messy creams or adhesives to secure your denture in place. And you’ll be able to clean your Implant-Supported Dentures just like natural teeth with regular brushing and flossing.

Who is a good candidate for Implant-Supported Dentures?

Patients who have previously used dentures but are otherwise in good health are excellent candidates for Implant-Supported Dentures. In fact, many of our patients who have been told they have too much bone loss to have traditional dental implants are ecstatic to hear that they are perfect candidates for Implant-Supported Dentures because there’s no need for bone grafts or other bone enhancement procedures.

    Single & Multiple Dental Implants

    Overview

We Can Meet All Your Dental Implant Needs. In One Office. Often in One Day. Working in a state-of-art dental facility, Dr. Kelly at Dental Implant Center of the Carolinas have made permanent tooth replacement with implants simpler and affordable.

    Book A Consultation

    What are Dental Implants?

Dental Implants can be thought of as artificial tooth roots that are placed in your jawbone and become a base for supporting one or more artificial teeth, called crowns. A connector, known as an abutment, is placed on top of the dental implant to support the crowns. Dental implants are made from medical-grade titanium which provides a more durable and natural-looking root form. Given the numerous benefits and aesthetic qualities dental implants offer, they have become the preferred method of tooth replacement today.

What are the benefits of Dental Implants?

Dental Implants are a more modern solution for tooth replacement than dentures or bridges. They are actually the only dental restoration option that preserves natural bone and helps stimulate bone growth. Dental implants look, feel and function like a real tooth. They will not decay and are designed to last for the rest of your life. There is no slippage or discomfort that commonly happens with dentures. They also make eating and speaking easier, while improving your overall oral health.

Who is a good candidate for Dental Implants?

Those likely to benefit from dental implants include people who have been experiencing problems with conventional dentures or simply people who have lost a tooth or teeth. They make life easier for those that have been finding it difficult to chew and enjoy meals and can slow down the process of tissue and bone loss in the jaw. What’s more is that implants can even provide a more youthful appearance due to the way that they will give your facial structure a lift. Furthermore, they will help you to speak more clearly.

However, for this implant procedure to work, there must be enough bone in the jaw. The bone has to be strong enough to hold and support the implant. If there is not enough bone, it may need to be added with a procedure called bone grafting. In addition, natural teeth and supporting tissues near where the implant will be placed must be in good health.

    How do I get started?

Start with a consultation with Dr. Kelly. At this consultation, the doctor will create a customized treatment plan just for you. You’ll learn exactly how much the procedure will cost without having to worry about any surprise fees. And remember: a consultation is a conversation. It’s not a commitment. You have nothing to lose and a beautiful smile to gain.
